For the First Time |
Unique Hands-Free Auscultation |
Universal has designed its patented BioPad 100™ Sensors to be applied in a “peel
and stick” manner similar to the application of an EKG electrode. This peel and stick sensor application allows clinically accurate auscultation to be done in a truly hands-free
manner for the first time.
Multiple BioPad™ sensors (from one to four) can be used to auscultate the heart, lungs, gastrointestinal, or peripheral vascular locations in a hands free manner. Easy to use controls allow each sensor to be selected and isolated for clinical assessment. This allows the heart, lungs, bowel, and peripheral vascular system to be assessed in an efficient manner without the need to move or relocate sensors.
Benefits of Hands Free Auscultation with BioPad™ Sensors |
There are many direct, tangible benefits that make remote,
hand-free auscultation a significant advantage over
current methods, including:
- Continuous auscultation
assessment in a hospital, ICU, CICU or long term
care facility using a remote, central monitor with
alarm limits. This minimizes manpower and staffing
requirements while maximizing patient safety and
clinical effectiveness.
- Hands free clinical auscultation
eliminates creaking sounds from hand and finger joints
and allows clinicians the benefit of using both hands
to maneuver patients, take notes, use Palm devices
and electronic charts.
- Minimizes noise artifact
from moving and holding the stethoscope in place.
- Significantly increases overall stethoscopic sound
fidelity by acoustically coupling the sensor to the
patient’s skin. The BioPad sensor is also low mass
and does not dampen acoustic energy.
- Superior acoustic
performance as compared to high-end electronic stethoscopes,
as well as traditional bell and diaphragm stethoscopes.
- Auscultate multiple locations sequentially without
the clinician having to move sensors or move the
patient (especially helpful in ICU, CICU, or hospital
bed settings).
